About TigerCamp
Started in 2006, our lacrosse camp was a success right from the start. And why wouldn’t it be?
The concept was an is a simple one … with the massive growth of lacrosse in our community combined with a wealth of natural lacrosse resources, why not offer an affordable summer lacrosse camp experience right here in our community?
So in the fall of 2005 the plan was hatched and it began with a coach from the Division 2 National Champs and a former two-time All-American from Johns Hopkins.
George Searing (now the Northport High School Boys Varsity Coach) and Brad Mclam (now a Northport High School Boys JV Coach), also were actively involved with Northport Lacrosse Club, so they were keenly aware that we had all the ingredients for the making of a world-class camp with in out own backyard.
The ingredients:
- The largest, single school district youth lacrosse program on LI
- A pool of coaching talent
- 2 parts school district coaches
- 1 part current or former Division 1 college players
- Excellent ability to reach out to our lacrosse community
- Plenty of field space
Our first three years we offered only a boys camp but in 2009 — led by Brad Mclam and Liz Sherwood, the girls lacrosse camp was born.
The boys camp typically takes place the week after the 4th of July, with the girls camp following the week after.
