The Team

George Searing

A proven coach at every level — youth, high school and college. George has brought teams to State and National Championships while coaching at Yorktown, NYIT and Northport.

George got his start in 1986 at upstate powerhouse Yorktown High School. During his tenure at Yorktown they won the New York State Championships in 1989, 1991, 1992, and 1993, and they were New York State Finalists in 1987 and 1990. While the head coach at Yorktown he was named Hudson Valley Coach of the Year in 1994 and 1996. He was also the Hudson Valley Empire State Team Coach.

In 1999 he became a Varsity Head Coach at Northport HS. He was named Suffolk County Coach of the Year that same year and took the Tigers to back-to-back state championships is 2000 and 2001.

In 2002 George took the offensive coordinator position at NYIT. While there, he helped lead the Bears to two NCAA championships.

George is currently the Northport HS Varsity Coach. He is also a member of the Northport Lacrosse Club Board of Directors and a founder of Team Tiger.

Brad McLam

Brad has Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and Movement Science.  He spent 10 years as the Director of Fitness and Athletic Training at Sportime in Syosset with experience working with High School, College and Professional level athletes. 20 years experience coaching all levels of Lacrosse, Youth,Middle, High School and College.

Two-time All-American defensive midfielder at Johns Hopkins University 1985 & 1986. Member of the NCAA Championship teams at Johns Hopkins University 1984 & 1985. Voted Outstanding Defensemen; 1986. Brad also lettered in football for JHU and held the record for all-purpose yards for over 10 years. Four years as an assistant coach at C.W. Post; 6 years as an assistant coach at Mepham HS including county finalists in 1992 and currently a coach for Northport Middle School and helps extensively with the Northport Lacrosse Club boys and girls teams.

Brad and his family live in the Northport community. Currently he is the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Siegel Performance Systems Inc. a distributor of Fitness, Rehab and Athletic Performance equipment.

Joe Napolitano

Joe handles all marketing and communications for TeamTiger. He is responsible for the promotion and registration of TeamTiger Summer Tournament Teams, Camps and Player Development. He also handles all things related to TeamTiger marketing including its website, apparal/uniforms and everything else with the TeamTiger name on it.

Joe was a founding member of the Northport Lacrosse Club and has served on its board since 2003. For 4 years he served as the club’s president. Joe played high school lacrosse at St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset where the Gaels won the Long Island championship his senior year (the last team other the Chaminade or St. Anthony’s to win the title). He played his college lacrosse at Division 1 Towson University in Baltimore.

Joe is the Senior Director of Creative and User Experience at Publishers Clearing House. He and his family have lived in Northport for 14 years.

Craig Dowd, Georgetown University

2009: A Second Team All-ECAC selection … An All-ECAC Academic Team selection … Started all 14 games … Led the team in scoring with 33 points … Tops on the team with 23 assists … His 23 assists are tied for the 11th-best single season mark in program history … Sixth on the team with 10 goals … Ranked second in the ECAC Lacrosse League with 1.57 assists per game, which was tied for 16th in the country … Fourth on the team with 57 shots … Had 10 multi-point games and nine multi-assist games … Scored a season-high four points four times, against Maryland, St. John’s, Delaware and Navy … Scored two goals and had two assists against Delaware … Tallied a season-high three assists three times, against Maryland, St. John’s and Navy.A member of the United States Under-19 Gold Medal team … Named the top attackman at the 2008 World Games.

Drew Thompson, University of Virginia

Drew Thompson, University of Virginia

A complete player who’ had an outstanding career at top-ranked University of Virginia … excels on both ends of the field …and has been named ACC Player of the Week for his great work on both sides of the field and at the face-off “X”. Currently a member of the Long Island Lizards.

NORTHPORT HIGH SCHOOL Four-time lacrosse letterman … All-American in 2002 and 2003 … three-time all-county selection …his Long Island team won two gold medals at the Empire State Games … two-time team MVP … set school records for career goals (161), points (239) and faceoffs won (580+) … 56 goals as a senior … team won state championship his sophomore year and was state finalist his junior season … MVP of the state championship as a sophomore … Louis Acompora Memorial Scholarship recipient.

Travis Burr, Harvard University

Currently a senior midfielder and team Captain at Harvard University and one of the Crimson’s leading scorers.

Three year starter at Northport HS. Lettered in football, basketball and lacrosse and is part of the 2006 “big four” which includes Craig Dowd, Max Chautin and Max Bartig. His Long Island team won the gold medal at the Empire State Games in 2005.

Jillian Byers, Notre Dame University

Finalist For 2009 Tewaaraton Trophy

A total team player, the Northport, N.Y., native excels in all aspects of the game. She leads the Irish with 50 draw controls (which is two off her record set in 2008) while she is fourth with 33 ground balls and second with 25 caused turnovers on the year. Versus Connecticut, on April 18, Byers set a Notre Dame single-season record with 12 points (7g, 5a) in a victory against Connecticut.

In helping the Irish to their first-ever BIG EAST championship, she scored six goals and added six assists in two wins over Syracuse (16-11) and Georgetown (12-10) and was selected to the BIG EAST all-tournament team.

A three-time IWLCA second team All-American, Byers has scored 253 goals with 72 assists for 325 career points. She ranks first all-time at Notre Dame in goals, points and draw controls (149) and is fourth in assists.

On the national level, she is currently the nation’s active leading goal scorer while being 14th in assists and third in points. She is seventh on the NCAA’s all-time goals list with 253 and 13th all-time with 325 points.

Five-year member and team captain of the Northport High School team that went 17-0 during league play for only the second time in school history … Played for Coach Carol Rose … Northport finished the season ranked No. 11 in the nation with a 20-1 record … Named a First-Team All-American in 2008 and 2009 and High School Academic All-American in 2009 by US Lacrosse … Won the Suffolk County Class A championships three times (2006, 08, 09) and was a finalist in 2007 … Member of the 2008 New York State Team 1 in 2008 and Team 2 in 2006 and 2007 … Was a 2008 and 2009 All-County performer and 2007 All-County Honorable Mention … A part of the 2007 and 2008 Long Island Empire State gold medalist teams … Also played for the Long Island Yellow Jackets club team for seven years … 2007 and 2008 First-Team All-Galaxy … Team won 2008 Lax 4 the Cure Championship and were the 2007 Star Spangled Banner champions.

NCAA National Champion

Key member of the Wildcat defensive unit, starting all 23 games as a freshman for Northwestern … Helped hold opponents to just 6.83 goals per game, the second-lowest total in the nation … Ranked fourth on the team with 30 ground balls, highlighted by five in the NCAA quarterfinal victory over Princeton (5/16) … Also scooped up four against Syracuse (3/22) and Ohio State (4/22) … Third on the team in caused turnovers with 18, including a career-high four against the Buckeyes … Forced a pair at Penn State in the ALC championship game (5/2) … Won 19 draw controls, including a personal-best three against Massachusetts in the NCAA first round victory … Tallied a pair of draws on five other occasions … Also came through on offense when needed, recording goals at Notre Dame (2/20) and against the Minutewomen … Earned ALC Defensive Player of the Week honors on April 27 … Named to the Womenslacrosse.com All-Rookie Team.

NORTHPORT HIGH SCHOOLFour-year letterwinner and team captain … Finished her high school career with 78 goals, 79 assists and 184 ground balls … Had single-game highs of six goals and seven assists … Two-time All-American … Helped lead Northport to the 2006 and 2008 Suffolk County Championship and was a finalist in 2007 … Long Island Championship finalists in 2008 … Named all-county and Newsday All-Long Island in 2007 and 2008 … Team’s MVP in 2007 and 2008 … Named to National Draw all-tournament team and was first-team All-Galaxy in 2007 and 2008 … Member of Long Island Yellow Jackets club team for three years … Team went undefeated at every summer tournament it played in in 2007 … Also was a three-time letterwinner in soccer … Two-time Academic All-American … Named most outstanding senior scholar-athlete … Graduated in the top five percent of her class … National Honor Society member … Honor roll student.

Nina Sarcona University of Massachusetts

Played four years at Northport High School under Coach Carol Rose, winning the league championship during her senior, junior and sophomore seasons … Named a Suffolk All-County Award Winner, High School Offensive MVP and Honorable Mention All-American her senior season after scoring 50 goals.
